Storage & Culinary Tips

  • Lettuce heads: keep in a loosely sealed large plastic bag with the cut stem down.

  • Head lettuce is best eaten within the first few days after harvest but can store up to a week.

  • Only wash right before consuming. To wash, separate leaves from head, tearing into bite-sized pieces and put in a salad spinner to wash.

  • For varieties like “Little Gem” try cutting in half, drizzling with oil and grilling for a crunchy and refreshing side dish.

  • Lettuce salads pair really well with creamy salad dressings, such as Caesar, blue cheese or green goddess.

  • Try using romain or butter lettuce leaves as a wrap around burgers, tacos, or other sandwiches.

  • Lettuce mix: our tender baby lettuce mix is the perfect salad foundation!
  • Store baby lettuce in a plastic bag, in the refrigerator. It's best eaten within a few days. Please note that we wash our salad greens on the farm , so they are ready to eat.  If you choose to wash your salad greens again, invest in a salad spinner so you can be sure to get them truly dry. (A wet salad always disappoints.)
